The Spiral Cellar- The perfect wine storage solution for modern homes
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Spiral Cellar was originally a French invention, developed by Monsieur George Harnois in 1978. Realising that many modern homes had no proper wine cellar he designed the perfect solution for wine storage. Since then over 10,000 wine cellars have been built in France and over 2,500 in the United Kingdom.
A home cellar can keep up to 1,600 bottles in ideal wine storage conditions and since, like a traditional wine cellar, it relies on the surrounding earth for its insulation, plus an ingenious air-flow system, it requires no power to maintain its constant temperature. Once it’s paid for, that’s it – no more expenses except for the wine itself, of course!
